Alamo Heights 8th Grade Gold Volleyball coach, Coach Saenz, has discovered that coaching volleyball is one of her favorite activities. Coach Saenz has done an excellent job leading the team, bringing in new players, and helping many improve their skills.
One player who has shown significant improvement is Lyles Conger. “Lyles just started for me as an outside hitter, but I’ve had a couple of girls miss games, and she steps in to play as a middle blocker or setter,” Coach Saenz exclaimed happily.
However, Conger was not the only player to find success this season. “The best game we’ve played was against Hal Peterson. The girls looked good, and they were in sync,” Coach Saenz said enthusiastically. Their last game was on Thursday, October 24th, followed by a tournament on Saturday, October 26th.
Overall, the volleyball season went well. “We’re 3-3. We had a really good season, and I hope the girls felt they played well and knew they were in sync,” Coach Saenz reflected. The season ended on a positive note.
Practice played a big role in the team’s success. “On Monday, we focus on serves. On Tuesday, we work on blocking and hitting. Then on Wednesday, we put it all together to see how it looks,” Coach Saenz explained. This structured approach helps the players stay organized and gives them a clear idea of what to expect at practice.
