Alamo Heights Junior School has held its annual pep rally. The pep rally has brought countless amounts of joy and spirit to the students and faculty. “I think it’s important because pep rallies really kind of bring everybody together,” says Kevin Miller. Closeness is important for The Junior School, and the pep rally truly unites everyone in school spirit. “It gets you excited for school spirit, which I think we could always use,” states Kim Alexander.

The Junior School pep rally is a “unique way to show school spirit,” says Whitney Fausnaugh. Because students and faculty love our school spirit, everyone wants to participate in the pep rally. “Everybody is equally important, right? And everybody’s got a part,” says Kevin Miller.

Everyone is truly a big part of the pep rally. The students “feel connected to school,” stated Kevin Miller. During the pep rally, the students truly experience a sense of belonging and spirit. Kim Alexander said the students got to see “our own version of Caledonia” when the mule arrived.

The mule arrived, and Kiss the Mule began. “It was an honor to be nominated and to win the competition,” says Whitney Fausnaugh, one of the Kiss the Mule nominees. Kiss the Mule candidates did not only kiss Caledonia; Kim Alexander said she also “cheered, and I sang the school song.”

The pep rally is one of many examples of spirit at The Junior School. From Kiss the Mule to community involvement, what starts as a rally brings much more than pep.
