The history classes at Alamo Heights Junior School are outstanding. As students progress each year from one great teacher to another, from sixth to eighth grade, the education these teachers provide helps them learn and grow.

One of those exceptional teachers in eighth grade is Mrs. Mendoza. Students in her U.S. history classes have great admiration for her. Fisher Losack, a fellow member of Mule Time Media, shared, “She is very nice and helps me understand my work.” While some students find the workload in U.S. history challenging, others appreciate her approach. Peter Schwab, another member of Mule Time Media, said, “Even though there is a lot of work given out in the class, Mendoza gives us a generous amount of time to complete the work.” He also noted, “She helps a lot and gives extra time if needed to complete unfinished work.”

Mrs. Mendoza’s class includes several creative projects. So far, the students have completed a few, and many say their favorite has been the cereal box project. This project involved designing and painting a cereal box based on one of the early American colonies. Students included facts about their colony, drawings, and images of historical events. Fisher Losack commented, “The project was nice, and being able to be creative made it even better.”

Overall, the students love Mrs. Mendoza and her class. The Alamo Heights community is grateful to have such an amazing teacher. Students are looking forward to more fun projects throughout the rest of the year and are happy to reflect on a great first half of the school year.
