At Alamo Heights Junior School, there are many moving parts and ideas put into place behind the scenes. Most of them go unacknowledged, but one of the least recognized yet most hardworking groups is the PTO.

The Alamo Heights Junior School PTO has had a significant impact on the Junior School this year. They have raised money for various classroom needs, as well as for treats and events for students and teachers. “We were able to provide about two hundred calculators this year for students,” says Tonya Embrey, PTO president, excitedly. “We’ve brought in a lot of meals and treat trolleys to teachers every month,” she adds while discussing the ways the PTO has assisted.

A lot of determination and effort go into making these things happen. “We have raised about fifty thousand dollars this year so far,” says Emily King, Vice President of Student Services, cheerfully. To raise this money, the PTO hosts many events and organizes activities for the students. “We did Mules in the Middle in the fall, we have dining nights out, and now we are fundraising for Springfest so we can have a really great party for you guys,” says Julie Bruton, Vice President of Special Projects, happily.

Because of these amazing people, the Junior School has everything it needs to be successful. Without their helping hands and immense effort, Alamo Heights Junior School would not be where it is today.
