At Alamo Heights Junior School, our fundraiser Springfest has been a fun way for students to take a break from all their hard work in learning and enjoy some fun with friends. Whether on the field or in the courtyard, there is so much to do and look forward to, like food and fun rides.
Rylee Triesch, a 7th grader who has attended Springfest, says, “Springfest was really fun and there was lots of food. I had fun with my friends, and it was a good way to be social and just have some fun.” According to Rylee, Springfest was a blast! Rylee’s explanation shows the fun and excitement of Springfest and why students should go.
“Since Springfest is a fundraiser, it helps out the school when students go and buy tickets. It was nice that even the people who didn’t buy tickets still got a few to enjoy Springfest,” Rylee says enthusiastically. Even if you forget when Springfest happens and forget to buy tickets, everyone is welcome and gets tickets, so you can still join the fun!
On the other end, Tonya Embrey, the PTO president, says, “It’s actually a lot of prep work to plan Springfest. We start planning as early as the beginning of the year!” Our amazing AHJS PTO plans Springfest with great care each year. It takes so much work to put a big event like Springfest together.
When considering whether going to Springfest is a good idea or not—first of all, it is so fun, and you are guaranteed a good time; and second, 100% of the money made goes to the school to help buy things to enhance our learning experience. Who knows—maybe YOU going will be the reason we get those brand-new cameras for the yearbook!
Tonya Embrey says, “I think it brings a sense of community to the school. It lets students have time together with their peers.”
Springfest is really just one big party. It’s an opportunity to bring the school closer as a big family. While it is very fun, it’s also a great opportunity to hang out with your friends or even make new ones. And it benefits the school in so many ways that most students don’t even realize. After all, Springfest is our biggest fundraiser of the year—and it brings us all closer as the best school in Texas!
