On World Kindness Day (November 13th, 2025), social platforms inspired people to celebrate the life of Kellyanne Lytal by wearing special tee-shirts in her honor. Kellyanne was a wonderful 8-year-old girl who touched many hearts with her incredible kindness toward everyone she met.

Though she passed away during the hill country floods at Camp Mystic, her beautiful spirit of kindness continues to inspire others. World Kindness Day became a special way for people to remember her loving nature and spread the same warmth and care she shared with the world.

Kendra Carter, the Cambridge Elementary PTO President stated, ”Kellyanne spread kindness wherever she went and she always had a special heart to recognize when those around her needed just a hug, or she was just always willing to see the empathy and kindness.”

She was a beloved part of the Alamo Heights community attending Cambridge elementary school.

To spread her memory, papers were passed out to give people ideas on how to spread and share kindness to others. Stickers and Hershey’s chocolates were passed out as well at the Alamo Heights Junior School to spread more kindness to others.

Kendra Carter stated, “So from the moment students pulled up, we have fifth grade kindness captains at our school. There were kindness captains, greeting all the students with kindness confetti. And with homemade kindness posters that they held in their hands, as they walked into school.” Now you can see that the kindness started bright and early on this day celebrating Kellyanne and her kindness all day long.

Mrs. Carter also said, “We also encouraged everyone to wear blue, which was Kellyanne’s favorite color. So blue was kind of a way that we encouraged our students to wear her shirts or to just wear the color blue in honor of her and World Kindness Day.” As you can see, blue was an important part of Kellyanne’s life, and when people wore blue it showed respect and honor for her kindness and courage.

These small but powerful gestures encouraged people to spread kindness everywhere. Mrs. Carter also gave a valuable lesson on how we can spread kindness and happiness to others in our daily life, “Just always remember to pause and think, ‘What am I doing to spread kindness today?’ and you know, I think what’s most important is that we are going to have bad days, but sometimes we just need to pause and think, ‘How am I spreading Kindness today, and where can I spread kindness today?’”

The community really came together to honor and spread her kindness to others. All of these little acts of kindness that they did helped people that might have been having a hard day, have a better day because of all the kindness that was passed throughout the community.

Here are some ways to spread kindness by volunteering in our community. There are multiple organizations you can join at our junior school. For example, you could join the 6th Grade Service Club for girls or boys when you are in sixth grade. Outside of school, girls in grades 7–12 can join NCL (National Charity League), and boys in grades 9–12 can join YMSL (Young Men’s Service League). You can also sign up on nonprofit websites such as the food bank or Snack Pack and volunteer to help people in need. Just taking a little time out of your day to help others can make a huge difference in others’ lives by lending a helping hand.
