In band, students enjoy playing their instruments and expanding their knowledge of music. Band teachers Mr. Hunter Stockton and Mrs. Megan Whitty help their students overcome challenges with their instruments and ensure they are well-prepared for upcoming performances.
“Being on time is very important to our field,” said Mr. Stockton. To avoid feeling rushed, he and his students arrive early before each performance, ensuring they are ready when it’s time to start.
Mrs. Whitty echoed Mr. Stockton’s sentiments, adding, “It’s recommended to arrive early so that students can go home and rest, finish their homework, and practice when they have the chance.” Her goal is to give students the rest they need while also encouraging them to practice at home, helping them stay prepared for their next performance.
“We enjoy traveling to the high school to play band concerts at football games and shows,” Mr. Stockton shared excitedly. Whether performing at the high school auditorium or during football games, he and the students enjoy the experience of playing in front of an audience.
Mr. Stockton also emphasized the importance of rehearsals. “We make sure everything goes smoothly, and if something goes wrong, we fix it quickly during rehearsal. It’s also important for students to practice at home to improve before our shows,” he explained.
Both Mr. Stockton and Mrs. Whitty ensure that their students have everything they need to succeed. From providing guidance during rehearsals to helping students practice at home, they work hard to make sure every concert is a success.
Through their teachers’ support, students learn to improve their skills and gain confidence, resulting in memorable performances for both the band and their audience.
