Alamo Heights’ best orchestra teacher, Mr. Garcia, is great at making orchestra fun. He loves teaching kids orchestra to the best of his ability, and the students enjoy learning from him. He makes orchestra exciting for every student and gives them the time of their lives.
Mr. Garcia says enthusiastically, “My high school teacher, Mr. Brewlard, is the reason I teach.” The reason he became an orchestra teacher is because of Mr. Brewlard. This teacher must have been very influential to inspire Mr. Garcia to pursue such a rewarding career as an orchestra teacher.
“I started teaching at Judson Middle School,” Mr. Garcia says with joy. This is where Mr. Garcia began his teaching career. Had he started at a school with less motivated students, he might have struggled and quit, but fortunately, that didn’t happen.
“This year has been great, and the progress of the students is impressive,” he says proudly. He is pleased with the progress his students have made this year and feels confident in their performance.
He continues excitedly, “We are going to rehearse our songs in the auditorium.” This is where the orchestra members start their rehearsals and perform their concerts.
“I pick songs for our students that are difficult, fun, and classical,” he says with enthusiasm. The songs Mr. Garcia selects are key to keeping the students engaged and ensuring the performances captivate the audience. If the songs were too difficult or uninspiring, the performances wouldn’t be as effective.
“We played some spooky songs for Halloween, which were perfect for the October theme, and they sounded great,” he says enthusiastically. The students really enjoyed these pieces and performed them well during the concert.
“The concert went really well; the students did a great job of staying in sync and playing the right notes,” he says joyfully. This shows that the concert was a success and that the students performed excellently.
Overall, the concert went really well, and we should be excited for future performances. Mr. Garcia has set a high standard for this year’s orchestra, and it’s clear the orchestra will continue to improve.
