Alamo Heights 7th grade coach, Coach Olguin, has embraced his role in coaching football. Whether he’s coaching at school or watching the game at home, he finds joy in his work. Under his guidance, the 7th grade football team has enjoyed tremendous success!

“Our record for the gold team was 7 and 0,” he said with pride. This record shows that the gold team remained undefeated throughout the season.

The gold team’s success can be attributed to their strong communication skills. “I think they were successful because of their ability to communicate with each other,” Coach Olguin explained.

Despite their success, the gold team faced challenges. “Our hardest game was probably our second game of the year, but we beat everyone pretty decently,” he recalled.

When asked about the standout player on his team, Coach Olguin didn’t hesitate. “The star player on my football team was Nathan Chapman. I think he is the all-star for the gold team this year,” he said enthusiastically, recognizing Nathan’s contributions.

Coach Olguin has great confidence in his team’s potential. “I think they, as a group, will improve quite a bit because 7th grade is usually the year when you really start to figure out how to play the game,” he said proudly.

He also has high hopes for future teams. “I think they will be as good as this year’s team,” he shared, reflecting his belief in the continued success of the program.

While coaching may seem easy from the outside, it is clear that everyone on the team—whether coaches or players—appreciates the guidance and dedication of Coach Olguin. His work may be demanding, but his passion for coaching shines through in the success of his team.
