This year, the Alamo Heights Junior School Blue Team is determined to take their game to the next level. With a roster full of talented players and a strong coaching staff, including Coach Olivetti and Coach Wogstad, the team is focused on building chemistry, improving individual skills, and competing at their best.
The Blue Team will be facing some intense competition this year. “There are a lot of good teams this year,” Coach Wogstad said. “I think it’s probably gonna be our last game against Bourne South, and they have some really good players.” Along with Bourne South, the Blue Team will also go up against other strong teams, each bringing unique strengths to the table. With a challenging schedule ahead, the Blue Team knows they must stay sharp and focused from start to finish. Every game will require them to bring their best, as the competition is sure to push them to their limits. To succeed, the team will need to rely on each other, maintain excellent communication, and execute their game plan under pressure, all while staying mentally tough against their toughest opponents.
To win the championship, the team must work on consistency, maintaining high energy throughout the game, and making every shot count. Coach Wogstad reflects that in some games, “we were slow to start and didn’t take good shots.” He added, “One of the hardest things to coach is picking the best shots,” whether in practice or games. Consistency starts with practice. Practice is very important, and there are expectations for the players. If a player does not meet the expectations, there are consequences. Coach Wogstad mentioned “running or towel pushes.”
The Blue Team is prepared for a hard but exciting season, with a strong focus on improving consistency, sharpening skills, and building chemistry. With a tough schedule ahead and tough competition, the team’s success will depend on their ability to stay focused, communicate well, and perform their game plan under pressure. Making smart decisions and meeting high expectations in practice will be key factors in the team’s pursuit of a championship. As the season starts, the Blue Team’s teamwork and dedication to improvement will determine how far they can go.
