As the holiday season begins, Alamo Heights Junior School prepares to celebrate by organizing a Holiday Toiletry Drive for the past five years. The Holiday Drive is led by Mrs. Lucas, Dr. Guthrie, and our dedicated Student Council. The drive aims to collect essential toiletry items such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and other hygiene products to support students and families in need.

Dr. Guthrie explained that students, parents, and community members are encouraged to donate toiletry products by placing them in white bins located at the front of the school and in the cafeteria. “The real goal is to provide help with some needed supplies for people in our community during the holidays,” he stated. “Just to share some holiday good with those who need it, kind of like receiving an unexpected gift.”

Dr. Guthrie highlights the importance of this drive by explaining that its main goal is to provide the needed supplies to people in our community who may be struggling during the holidays.

To wrap up, all the donated items for the Holiday Toiletry Drive at Alamo Heights Junior School will be sorted and packaged by Mrs. Lucas and volunteers from the Student Council to be ready to send out to families. Mrs. Lucas explains, “Since it’s solely confidential, I’m the one in charge of giving out the items to families.” This ensures that more people will have access to essential items like shampoo, conditioner, soap, and other toiletries, helping them stay clean and healthy throughout the holiday season.

By coming together to support those in need, students, staff, and community members embrace the true spirit of the holiday season—kindness, compassion, and giving—by raising a plethora of items for families. This plan not only provides essential hygiene products but also brings joy to families, making the holidays brighter for everyone involved.
