Over the past year, the girls and boys basketball teams have demonstrated remarkable growth and improvement. With our dedicated coaches, long practices, and commitment from both sides, the Alamo Heights Junior School team had made great development. The girls and boys teams have made amazing improvements on ball handling, skills, teamwork and their overall performance.
The student athletes are definitely able to tell that we have had great growth. Savannah Smaistrla shared, “I’ve gotten better since last year, like I didn’t have the right shooting form before, but now I do. Plus, I’ve improved at jump balls by learning a new technique that has helped me a lot.”
All this work and dedication is not just by our players but also by our coaches and parents. Blake Beadle (a member of Mule Time Media) agreed and said “I think I have improved in various forms from ball handling and shooting.” Smaistrala couldn’t agree more by saying “ My dad and my current basketball coach have always pushed me to my limit and he pressures me to domy best.”
Furthermore, the mental parts of the game have been an important part of this season. Both teams have placed time, effort and sportsmanship. Beadle siad, This mindset shift has fostered a positive environment where players can learn from their mistakes without fear of judgment.
In conclusion, the growth of our 8th grade boys and girls basketball teams this year is a testament to their hard work and dedication. With improved teamwork, elevated individual skills, and a stronger mental approach to the game, both teams are well-equipped for future challenges. As we celebrate these achievements, it is clear that the foundation laid this year will serve them well in the seasons to come. The future looks promising, and we can’t wait to see where their perseverance and passion will lead them next.
