The STAAR test is a standardized test in Texas that assesses student learning in core subjects like reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, from grades 3 through high school. Everything the students have learned this year has led up to these tests. Let’s take a deeper dive into the characteristics of the STAAR test.
The STAAR test is very important—it’s not like any ordinary quiz or test you have during the year. When you take this test, you must try your hardest to get the best score possible. “The STAAR test is probably the most important test of the year,” Thai Bien says. “The tests are to assess what you have learned throughout the year.” From this, we can infer that when you take the STAAR test, you must make sure that you are prepared, focused, and ready to do your best. You’ll never know what the STAAR test has in store for you.
The STAAR test is also important in another way—you must pass this test, or there are consequences. Ford Jones says, “You get summer school if you fail, and you go for 30 hours.” The STAAR test may also be difficult, so you must dig deep in your brain and try to remember everything that you have learned this year. Thai Bien adds, “The test is hard because it asks you questions about everything you have learned throughout the whole year.” We recommend studying a lot and reviewing your previous notes. The STAAR test is challenging, but we know that our AHJS students will do their best to succeed.
That’s all about the STAAR test. We hope you study well and are ready for these upcoming exams. And make sure to be amazing!
