Make sure you have nothing to do after school on Friday, April 25: The AHJS Student Council is hosting Fiestival, a Fiesta-themed school “dance” that promises to be a fun and relaxed event for all seventh- and eighth-grade students.
When asked about the upcoming event, Mrs. Brady, a sponsor for the Fiestival, said, “It’s just a fun hangout for seventh- and eighth-grade students—and it’s free! It’s only for Alamo Heights Junior School seventh and eighth graders. In the past, we’ve had more of a traditional dance, but students asked if we could make it less about dancing and more of a chill hangout.”
This shift to a more casual vibe means less pressure for students to attend with a date and more freedom to just hang out and enjoy themselves. Along with the chance to dance if they want to, students can also compete in fun games like cornhole, trash-ket-ball, and Jenga.
Admission is free. Mr. Miller will be the DJ for the event. Pizza and sodas will be available for purchase at four dollars and one dollar, respectively. Students are encouraged to dress in Fiesta-themed clothing but are not allowed to wear athletic wear. Mrs. Brady described Fiesta-themed clothing as colorful clothes and vibrant dresses.
So, if you’re looking for a night filled with food, fun, and music, don’t miss the AHJS Fiestival on April 25. It’s the perfect way to kick back with friends and celebrate Fiesta in style!
