Art is a very important part of Alamo Heights Junior School, and with so many talented students on campus, the art show was a wonderful addition. It gave students a chance to showcase their hard work and the incredible skills they’ve been developing since the beginning of the school year.
Ms. Wofford, the art teacher, shared that the art show is “a collection of artwork that the students have created throughout the entire school year. This year, they each got to include just one piece in the show, so they chose their favorite—the one they felt most successful with. We had 150 pieces displayed, really just showcasing their creative talent, ability, and accomplishments from this year.”
Ms. Wofford’s perspective highlights the importance of celebrating student artwork—not only to recognize their creativity, but also to give credit for the effort and dedication they’ve shown all year long.
The art show took place on April 8th in the Fine Arts building, from 6 to 8 p.m. “The whole hallway was decorated with way more art than what’s usually hanging up,” said Ms. Wofford. “We had display boards, easels, and all kinds of setups. Parents came—it was pretty packed, so it was nice.”
The art show was a successful and memorable event at Alamo Heights Junior School. It was clearly a great idea, especially considering the quality of the students’ artwork. Thanks to Ms. Wofford and her incredible teaching, these students were well-prepared to showcase their best work and demonstrate their artistic growth.
