At Alamo Heights Junior School, lunch is very important—not only because students need food, but also because it benefits their overall well-being. Mr. Saldana, assistant principal, says, “School lunch is good for students by giving them healthy options and good serving sizes for students to eat.” By providing students with better and healthier food and portions, it can help them thrive throughout the day with a full stomach!

Additionally, with every lunch the school cafeteria provides, an extra serving of protein, fruit, and dairy is included. “On the school lunches, nutrients and healthy foods are served and required on every school lunch tray,” Mr. Saldana states. This helps students maintain healthy eating habits with the right foods.

While school lunch is pretty good, it could still use some improvements. “I think the school can improve on making the lunches a little warmer for the students,” says Mr. Saldana. This shows that while the food is healthy and well-portioned, serving it at a better temperature could make the meals more enjoyable for students.

In conclusion, the school cafeteria is doing a wonderful job providing students with healthy and well-portioned lunches. However, there is still room for improvement to make school lunch even better. By focusing on small changes—like serving warmer meals—the school can continue to support students’ health and satisfaction during lunchtime.
