At the school pep rally last week, a memorable moment took place when Mrs. Tadlock kissed a mule in front of the entire school. Students had heard rumors about who might be chosen, but no one knew for sure until the event actually happened. Mrs. Tadlock said, “Ms. Brady asked if I would be on the form and then students voted and picked me.”

She explained that she was unsure why students chose her, saying, “Either they like me so much they wanted me to kiss the mule or they hated me so much and they wanted to see me kiss the mule. I think it was both.” She said she felt positive when she heard the news. “I felt excited. I felt honored to be chosen. It is a tradition here at our school, and I was ready to kiss the mule.” She also said she knew ahead of time that she would be chosen: “I knew. I do not know if I was supposed to know, but I knew.”

Before the event, she prepared to make the moment fun for the audience. “I went and bought some lipstick and put it in my pocket, and then picked out a cool outfit because I knew I was gonna have to go in front of everyone,” she said.

After the kiss, she described the reaction: “I think it was excitement. I do not think many people saw that I left a big smooch outline on the mule.”

She also shared that the moment came with some unexpected challenges. “I would recommend to probably pet the mule first and let them know you are gonna come in, because when I just grabbed her face she kind of freaked out,” she said. “I thought she was going to, like, hit my head. I thought she was going to be cooler about it.” She said, “Overall, it was a fun experience.”

When asked if she would be willing to participate again, she said, “Sure. I will kiss that mule every year.” She also said, “Do not make it boring. Hype up the crowd. Do not be weird about it. Do not be nervous. Just go for it.”

This moment added excitement to the pep rally and is one the school community will remember.
