It might seem overwhelming to juggle schoolwork, sports, personal life, and extracurricular activities, but as Andrew Bishop said, “There’s only so much you can do in one day.”

Many student-athletes receive help from their families when trying to balance school, sports, and their personal lives. Andrew Bishop said his biggest supporter is his mom, explaining, “because every time I’m having trouble with balancing or homework, she’s always there to help me out.” Having someone to encourage him helps him stay focused. Andrew also added, “She usually tells me to keep going, and if it’s too hard, to take a break and then go back to it.”

Managing everything can be tough when there isn’t enough time. Andrew Bishop said it best: “You can only do so much in one day. When you try to do too much, things get hard.” Some days are harder than others, especially during games. Andrew explained, “Wednesdays are the worst because I have basketball games. By the time I get home, it’s late, and I don’t have much time for homework.”

When you feel stressed, taking breaks helps. Andrew Bishop says he takes short breaks, gets a snack, and clears his mind. Fun activities also reduce stress. He enjoys playing Fortnite because it’s relaxing to play with friends. Spending time with family matters too. Andrew believes family should come before school and sports.

Staying organized helps student-athletes keep up with everything. Andrew Bishop shared his routine, saying, “When I get home, I finish all my homework first, then I do what I need to do and spend time with my family and eat dinner with them.” When giving advice to other students, Andrew said, “You need to put your family in front of school and sports, and school in front of sports, because that’s what’s most important.” He also reminded students that it is okay to take breaks, adding, “If you’re ever struggling, it’s okay to take a break and go back to it later.” Being organized helps student-athletes manage everything.

Balancing school, sports, and personal life is not easy for student-athletes, but it is possible with the right support and habits. As the article shows, getting help from family, managing time well, and taking breaks when needed can make a big difference. Student-athletes deal with busy schedules and stress, especially during game days and when they have lots of schoolwork. However, finding time to relax and spend time with loved ones helps keep everything balanced. When student-athletes set clear priorities and remember what matters most, they can succeed both on and off the field.
