Changes in how students study and learn often result from varying levels of student improvement. Some students are more engaged in their studies, while others may not be as engaged. At Alamo Heights Junior School, certain classes have exams or tests that are worth more points than others. In higher-level classes, reading assignments can be more challenging due to their level, while other classes may offer easier books that better suit students’ needs.

The mental challenges that students face include anxiety, stress, depression, and pandemic brain, which causes the brain to forget things. When students have a lot of work and experience these symptoms, it may lead to them not completing their work due to feeling overwhelmed. Students may experience a decrease in their test or exam scores because of the workload overwhelming them. More students might have trouble focusing in the classroom, miss assignments, and feel discomfort with in-person talking.

Students have diverse learning styles. Some may prefer visual learning by observing assignments as examples. Others benefit from auditory learning by listening, read/write learning through text, or kinesthetic learning by actively doing and experiencing tasks. Many students are required to do a lot of critical thinking for their schoolwork, and some may not want to because peer pressure may suppress their thoughts. Creativity may either decrease or increase based on behavior in class and how students feel.
