The AHJS dance team is super exciting at pep rallies and really gets everyone pumped up. When the music starts and they hit the floor, the whole gym cheers, and it feels like the school is pumping with energy. Their dances show how much they practice and care, and they make pep rallies and school events way more fun. The team is a big part of AHJS and helps everyone feel proud of their school.

A lot of girls join the AHJS dance team because they just love to dance. A dance team member Cruz said, “I decided to join the AHJS dance team because I like dance.” This shows that the main reason many students try out is simply that they enjoy dancing. When you love something, it makes practices and performances way more fun, and dancers who join for this reason usually work harder and get more out of being on the team

It’s not just about dancing. Cruz said supporting the school matters just as much to her. “I also like supporting my school and dancing for the school,” she explained during the interview.

The dance team plays an important role in building school spirit throughout the year. They perform at pep rallies, football games, and other school events to get crowds excited and energized. Their performances help cheer on other teams and create a fun atmosphere for students and families. The team works hard to represent their school and make students feel proud to be part of the community.

Many people confuse dance and cheer, but the two activities have clear differences. A team member explained, “For cheer, we go to different competitions and we have a different style of dancing. Cheer does stunts and stuff,” said Cruz. Cheer focuses heavily on stunts and tumbling, while dance teams concentrate on choreography and performance. Both require hard work and dedication, but they express it through different skills and competition styles.

The AHJS dance team is an important part of the school community. The dancers love what they do and work hard to support their school through performances at games, pep rallies, and events. Their energy and spirit help make AHJS a more exciting place for everyone.
