At Alamo Heights Junior School, we have a lot of clubs of all types. But did you know that we have a club that is about being a better leader? It is called the Leader of Leaders Club. We interviewed Mrs. Godfrey, the organizer of the club, and Elsa Robelo, a student in the club, to tell us what the club is really about.

The Organizer for Meetings

For each meeting, you need to have someone there to make sure that everything goes well and that you stay on track. Elsa said, “Mrs. Godfrey, the counselor. She organizes all the meetings and sends the Kick Time passes to everyone to make sure they can come.” So Mrs. Godfrey is the one who makes sure everything is good and going the way they want it to go.

What Is This Club Really About?

The Leader of Leaders Club is mainly about one thing. Elsa said that the club is mainly about helping the community and helping to stop bullying at Alamo Heights Junior School. I think this is really important, and to be honest, Alamo Heights does need some help in those areas.

Helping the School

Every day, Alamo Heights Junior School is always trying to be a better school in all ways. Elsa said, “It helps come up with a lot of ideas on how to help the school.” So they are creating ideas to help the school in all ways. Mrs. Godfrey said, “We are doing a lot of things behind the scenes to make change on our campus and make it a more welcoming place.” Again, more ideas to help the school all around.

Meeting Length

The length and frequency of meetings can really do a lot for a club. Elsa said about the Leader of Leaders Club, “We get together about two times a month, and the meetings are typically 35–40 minutes because they are during advisory.” This is a pretty good amount of time, and they meet quite often compared to other clubs at Alamo Heights Junior School.

What They Do in the Meetings

In that short amount of time, you must need to get a lot done. Elsa said, “We go into the counseling office, we start off by brainstorming ideas, then we work on ideas from the last meeting, then we go into the main building component, like making newsletters or websites, and finally we always end off with Mrs. Godfrey telling us encouraging sayings.” To me, that is a lot for a 35-minute meeting. It is crazy how much they do.

What Students Do

Students do most of the work in this club. Elsa said, “I will go to the meeting and help brainstorm ideas for anti-bullying programs that they want to do.” This is what she does, but she also said this is what most people do in the Leader of Leaders Club.

Where You Can Go for the Club

You can go to some really cool events with the Leader of Leaders Club. Elsa said, “You can go to events about bullying. I went to a symposium about bullying, and I learned a lot about the different types of bullying.” That is pretty cool for a middle school student to do and to learn about bullying.

In conclusion, the Leader of Leaders Club is mainly about helping stop bullying and coming up with ideas to help Alamo Heights Junior School. Elsa Robelo gave us some really good information about the club. The Leader of Leaders Club is a pretty amazing club and will do a lot of good things for Alamo Heights Junior School.
