Imagine walking into the ultimate theater where each hallway leads to a different world: one corridor leads to action and superheroes, while the next leads to comedy and laughter, while the third leads to sports stories and competitiveness. You might be thinking which one do I want to watch? Lucky for you, I have interviewed two students about the top upcoming movies for a few different genres.

In upcoming sports films, 7th grader Noah Hart thinks that GOAT will be one of the top sports movies in 2026. “I think GOAT will because it sounds appealing as an animated sports comedy, and it is supposed to be inspirational,” Hart said. GOAT is an animated basketball movie inspired by Steph Curry and his story to fame.

Campbell McAlister thinks the top action movie coming out in 2026 is the new Avengers: Doomsday movie and that it will be the most beneficial to the Avengers franchise and just action movies in general. Campbell said, “The new Avengers will be very helpful because it has already been a hit and this one is supposed to be one of the best yet.” Avengers is a hit; a new one adds even more fame to the heroes and villains, contributing to building a whole new world.

Science Fiction has come out with many great movie hits. But Hoppers might make its way to the top of them all. Campbell McAlister thinks that Hoppers looks underrated, but he thinks it will be very highly loved by almost anyone who watches it.

Sci-Fi has always had many big hits including Star Wars, The Mandalorian, and many more, but Noah Hart thinks that Dune 3 will be revolutionary to the Sci-Fi genre. According to Noah Hart, “Dune is already an underrated series, but with some ads and a new one coming out, it will be a real thriller to watch.” He also thinks, “Dune 3 will have the most spectacular visuals and action sequences ever put on screen.”

The last genre might be the most popular genre yet, which is animation comedy. Campbell McAlister thinks that Toy Story 5 will be very popular in the movie industry. “Toy Story 5, I think, will be one of the most watched movies of all ages,” said Campbell McAlister.

The 2026 upcoming movies truly have the potential to be one of the best movie years of all time, including all of the different genres adding to their horizon and expanding their movie fans. Overall, the top upcoming movies in each genre are Dune 3 (Sci-Fi), Toy Story 5 (Animation Comedy), Avengers: Doomsday (Action), GOAT (Sports Comedy & Inspirational), and finally Hoppers (Animated Science Fiction). So if you are bored or just had a busy day, go try out these movies!
