Have you ever felt stressed or worried about the STAAR test? Here are some things your teachers do to help you feel more confident. To start it off, Ms. Brady said, “We get them in a small group and work with them until they are comfortable with the topic they need help with.” According to some teachers on campus, every lesson is packed with STAAR-type questions. So you might not even realize that you’ve basically been practicing for the STAAR test all year. The week before the STAAR test, teachers hype you up by adding prizes and friendly competition to get you excited and more confident.
Teachers also help students prepare by reviewing important topics many times during the year. Instead of only studying right before the test, teachers include STAAR-style questions in daily lessons so students can slowly build their understanding. Sometimes teachers go over questions together as a class and explain how to solve them step by step. This helps students learn different strategies and feel less confused when they see similar questions later.
Another thing teachers do is remind students not to stress too much about the test. They encourage students to try their best and stay calm during the test. Some teachers even give tips like getting a good night of sleep, eating breakfast, and taking your time while reading the questions. All of these small things can help students stay focused and do their best.
Overall, teachers do a lot to help students prepare for the STAAR test. With practice, encouragement, and support, they help students feel more confident and ready when test day comes.
