The Masters Tournament is more than just a golf competition. It has a strong impact on the community, especially for young and beginner golfers. According to Cinco Drought, a 7th-grade golfer for Alamo Heights, the event plays a big role in inspiring new players to get involved in the game.
The Masters Tournament in Our School
“I think beginner golfers benefit the most from the Masters Tournament because it inspires them to play more golf,” Drought said. Since golf can take time to learn, watching skilled players compete encourages beginners to keep practicing and improving their skills.
The Masters also helps bring people together. Families and friends come together to watch the tournament, turning it into a shared experience. “This year I went to my cousin’s house to watch the Masters, and we all came together. It was really fun,” Drought shared. Moments like these show how the event builds connections within the community.
The Impact
The biggest impact happens during the tournament itself, especially on the final day. Sunday’s last round creates excitement as the top players compete closely for the win. “You might have two players tied with just a few holes left, and it’s really interesting to see who wins,” Drought explained.
Local golf courses also see an increase in activity during the Masters. Watching talented golfers motivates beginners and amateurs to go out and play. Many are inspired to improve their game and strive to reach a higher level of performance.
Overall, the Masters Tournament is important because it brings people together and inspires golfers of all skill levels. Its four-day format makes it unique compared to other sporting events, giving people more time to watch, connect, and enjoy the experience. For many young golfers, it’s not just entertainment; it’s motivation to become the best player they can be.
